Product Description
NEW! The Ink: Heart of Darkness is a combination ink that absorbs as much of the color spectrum as could be engineered, with an average penetration rate - BULLETPROOF. This listing is for a 4.5 oz. eyedropper glass bottle of Noodlers ink in Black - Heart of Darkness. The product is new, current product directly from the manufacturer. The bottle is glass with a distinctive Noodler's label, and an outside Noodler's box. This ink is all U.S. made and boasts Archival, Anti-Forgery and Anti- Feathering features -- what the manufacturer calls Bulletproof. The ink is specifically designed for fountain pen use?????.. The Pen: Direct from the lab at Noodlers - a modified refillable fountain pen. The insides of the pen have been removed, allowing a full fill of the barrel; then a small gasket and some sealant completes the modifications. Pen is a clear plastic so ink supply is visible - snap-cap with clip.

This ink by Noodler's is smooth, dense, and indelible, and writes with the same characteristics no matter which fountain pen I choose to use. I have never used a finer ink, whatever the cost.

5 out of 5 stars Black as heart of Darkness   July 1, 2010

This is good ink. As promised, is as black as a night in the country. It's black is way more deep than parker's quink black, it dries out faster, and with the paper i use, regular and moleskine paper, it doesn't bleed through.

If you get the chance, use this ink with a moleskine, it's a pleasure you don't want to miss.

It comes with a pen too, but it isn't a good pen. It's made of plastic, the nib is ok though. As someone said, it's ok for a first pen.

I would like to remark the quality of the bottle, even the dropper is made of glass.

Finally i haven't tested it against water, because it's not something that happen so often, at least to me.

Having used Heart of Darkness for about 3 months after receiving it, I fell comfortable in reviewing it. I can now say that this is the best black ink I have ever used. I've tried it in several fountain pens, including my favorite Lamy, and the results are stellar. It is blacker than black. It dries fast and becomes indelible.

As a Lefty, this is the first fountain pen ink that I can use cleanly, without smearing. I had put aside my favorite fountain pens for a few years after I got tired of smears. This ink has brought back the fun of writing for me. I absolutely love it.

Oooh it's black; I can only tell the difference between Heart of Darkness and my gel pen marks in the denting of the paper by the rolling ball. HoD also doesn't bleed or lighten when immersed in water for a few hours (so far). However, the pen, and the instructions for it, are a mess! I don't know if the handle end is supposed to be filled with ink, or if I was supposed to unscrew the nib. I think I did it right on the second try, but it still dropped globs on my paper. Wear gloves!

If there is a better ink please tell me where I can find it. Noodler's runs smooth with no clogging or feathering. The color is intensely dark. The included pen, while cheap, is a pleasure to use when loaded with this ink.
