I have a new HE top load washer. It does not seem to get smelly like the front load washers do. I also have never cleaned a washer but went ahead and used the free tablet that came with the machine when the "clean washer" light came on. It cleaned the residue out of the inside of the machine well and did leave it smelling fresh.

This is a very good product and I assumed because I was buying it through Amazon that it was at least a fair if not low price. However, I found the same product sold in Lowes for $6.98 that Amazon is selling for $9.65 so I feel I really got gyped.

I used three in a row, as directed, and it worked for a few days, then the odor was back and I keep the seals and drum clean etc. Not worth the money.

I couldn't tell the difference in using this product. I followed the directions and used it for the first time three times in a row (1 tablet each time) and didn't see any difference in the mold on the rubber gasket. These tabs are expensive. Maybe they work if your washer is brand new and you start using it from the beginning, but my washer is 4 years old and they didn't have this product then!

For all the people who say that their washers develop an odor--do any of them own a water softener? I don't have to use anything in my washer to keep it smelling fresh; however, I own a Kinetico water softener which takes the minerals and chlorine out of the water so you get water that is so soft you need less detergen to clean your clothes and the washer smells as fresh as it did when it was new. I used this product once as it came with my washer--I saw no difference!
